For Patients with Short or Long-Term Illnesses

Subacute care is for patients whose condition has stabilized to the point they no longer need acute hospital care, but they still need nursing care that is more intensive than what is provided by skilled nursing. It is comprehensive inpatient care designed for people who have suffered an acute illness or injury, or have a disease that is progressing, and need 24-hour care by a nurse.

Southwest Healthcare provides subacute care at Corona Regional Medical Center. The hospital has a 40-bed unit dedicated to this treatment. High quality care is provided in a compassionate, homelike setting, with the intent of improving your physical skills. Examples of conditions that may require subacute care include cancer, eating disorders, neuromuscular disorders, intensive wounds, stroke and spinal cord injuries.
